Apps also provide a limited visual field for observing a client, explains Jo. “When viewing someone performing an exercise virtually, you can’t get a 360-degree view to really observe their mechanics like you could if you were training them in person,” she says.
However, there are ways around both of these challenges when working within an app, such as only doing lifts that don’t require spotting and asking the client to show their movements from a variety of vantage points, says Jo.
