Charles S. ‘Steve’ Schwarz

Charles S. “Steve” Schwarz, formerly of Reedsville, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.

Born Sept. 30, 1936 in Mt. Union, he was the son of the late Stephen and Hulda (Sipes) Bryner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Schwarz.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Leona (Freed) Schwarz, whom he married on June 10, 1961, daughters, Marcia Larson and husband, Butch, of Lewistown, Stephanie Hopkins and husband Joel, of Harrisburg, grandchildren, Jacob, Breann, Andrew, and Brooke, and half-sister, Jeanne Boone.

He honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Marines Corps.

He was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church.

Steve was employed as a machine operator at Standard Steel, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Mifflin/Juniata Marine Corps Detachment, and served in the Mifflintown Masonic Lodge No. 324 for 60 years, he loved maintaining his yard, and took great pride in its beauty. He enjoyed gathering antiques alongside his wife, watching Penn State Athletics, especially wrestling, the Cleveland Browns, and Boston Celtics. He cherished his dog, Maggie, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, they meant so much to him.

A private graveside service will be held at Juniata Memorial Park.
